This solid silver cuff is embellished with protective animals at the tips.
Gold bracelets featuring the heads of lions, dragons or other protective animals have been worn by Newari women from the Kathmandu Valley since at least the 19th century. This bracelet remains popular today. Sometimes made of solid gold, it is more commonly made from the five protective metals twisted together, with gold embellished tips. A necklace is also available, which draws on the design of this classic cuff.
